Rosa Murillo
My modern jewelry is handmade in small batches by soldering, hammering, and polishing metal strip and wire. Eco-friendly resin is poured into layers and painted in between with acrylic paint. This acts as a binder for reclaimed wood, crushed stones, textile threads, and various natural pigments.
I use discarded wooden boxes as a canvas where I pour many layers of resin, each one painted with acrylic and pastel mediums. Once the piece is finished, I find the most interesting areas which are then cut, sanded, polished, and made into wearable art pieces by adding metal elements and stringing them from sterling silver or gold-filled chain.
